Air quality issues continue, scattered rain chances this weekend

Air Quality Alerts remain in place for some across the Stateline area, mainly for those up in southern Wisconsin and in McHenry County. The one in place across southern Wisconsin is set to expire at noon today whereas the one for northeast Illinois runs a bit longer, running until midnight tonight. With air quality levels sitting in between the "moderate" to at times "unhealthy for some" categories, those with heart and lung conditions, the young, and the elderly should limit time outdoors.

Otherwise, today will be a rather pleasant day. High pressure will be in control for much of Thursday and Friday, keeping things primarily dry and seasonable. There may be the potential for a few spotty showers as far north as I-88 for Friday afternoon/evening, but much of the area should remain dry.

Rain chances remain limited for Saturday, though a few showers cannot be ruled out. The better chance in the coming days arrives Sunday as an upper-level low swings into the western Great Lakes.

This will help send a cold front into the region which could have a few scattered storms along it. Post frontal passage, we see dry conditions settle in, with afternoon highs staying in the 70s.
