Mild temperatures along with possible showers and thunderstorms this weekend

With the first official week of summer passing by we now are heading into the first official weekend of summer! So far this week summer like weather has stuck around with temperatures remaining in the 70's and 80's! Temperatures will remain mild into the weekend however a few chances of a couple showers and thunderstorms will develop both today and tomorrow.

Temperature wise, today will once again be another beautiful day! We'll see our high temperature this afternoon reaches into the upper 70's and possibly near 80 degrees depending on afternoon sunshine! Into the afternoon and evening though an upper-level disturbance to our south may force a few showers.

With the upper-level wave and low-pressure system situated just to our south we'll see a good amount of lift in our atmosphere available today to force off those showers. However, our moisture content today will remain lower especially near the surface. Still though as temperatures cool into the night a few showers will be possible anywhere from 4 p.m-12 a.m. tonight with those chances moving to our east by midnight.

Heading into tomorrow our next system will approach from our northwest which will send down a cold front into the afternoon. Ahead of this cold front, morning sunshine is expected to build a little bit of instability which will allow for a few thunderstorms to develop ahead of the front. These thunderstorms look to arrive in the state line anywhere from 1-3 p.m. tomorrow but will quickly move to our southeast by 5-7 p.m.

With rainfall chances the next two days being limited we won't be seeing a whole lot of accumulation with these showers and storms. One thing to note though, is if showers tonight develop a bit farther north, we may see some higher totals as tonight's system will be a bit slower moving.

With any thunderstorm that develops tomorrow, some instability will be present which may allow for a storm or two to become a severe. Due to this the Storm Prediction Center has outlined a level 1/5 Marginal Risk for isolated severe storms. If one were to develop tomorrow a few severe wind gusts (59 mph+) and small hail may be possible.
