Some improvement in smoke-filled and hazy skies Wednesday

The haze was thick this morning as northwest flow within the jet stream continued to pull smoke down from the Canadian wildfires. As the jet stream winds begin to transition more west to east tonight, the higher concentrations of smoke will also begin to shift east. This is something we should continue to see through Tuesday evening. The skies won't be completely haze free, but some improvements will occur through tonight.

West winds Wednesday will help keep the higher concentrations of smoke and haze out east, but it's likely that at least some hazy conditions will persist through the afternoon. Moderate air quality conditions are forecast to continue through Thursday, so those who may be a little more sensitive to particle pollution should continue to limit time outdoors. You can find the latest on the air quality conditions here.
