June's Strawberry Moon to shine bright in the northern Illinois sky

Known as the Strawberry Moon, the last full Moon of astronomical spring is set to shine bright in our sky tonight into early Wednesday.

June's full moon is called the Strawberry Moon because this is around the time when the berry is ready for picking. Not only that, but it also corresponds with the slight reddish hue it gets being at a lower angle in the sky.

Peak illumination is at 2:43AM CDT and it looks like the weather will pan out nicely during its journey from moonrise to moonset. Temperatures won't be an issue either as a light westerly-southwesterly wind will be in place overnight, leaving most locales in the low 60s come Wednesday morning.

Moonrise: 8:36PM CDT today

Moonset: 5:02AM CDT Wednesday
