Soaking rain comes to an end early, cooler moving forward

Scattered showers linger as the cold front continues to progress across northern Illinois.

We can expect showers to wrap up before midday, leaving us dry this afternoon. Afternoon highs will be cooler, landing in the low 70s.

A weak high pressure system sliding into the Midwest and the Great Lakes will keep conditions dry for Thursday. Under a partly cloudy sky, expect highs to inch closer to the 80° mark.

Forecast models then show a weak system traversing across central Illinois Friday. This may end up south enough to where rain chances remain low, though a chance for a few showers exists.
