Lingering wildfire smoke Thursday, scattered showers this weekend

After a rainy and gloomy start to the day on Wednesday, but the sunshine came out for the afternoon to bring temperatures into the low 70s for many. Late into the evening, we may see a little bit of lingering smoke and haze stick around into Thursday morning. This may limit air quality for some during this time. Otherwise, it will remain partly cloudy with temperatures dropping back to the mid-50s tonight.

High pressure will be in control for much of Thursday and Friday, keeping things primarily dry and seasonable. We may see a few spotty showers as far North as I-88 for Friday afternoon/evening, but much of the area should be dry.

Higher coverage of scattered showers looks to arrive locally for Saturday. There may be a couple rumbles of thunder embedded within these showers. Even such, it will not be a widespread rainfall as the wave supporting the showers will not be very strong.

We will see a broader wave move through as we head toward the end of the weekend. This stacked upper and surface low pressure system will bring a cold front through the area early Sunday. We might see a few scattered storms along this front before things dry out toward the middle of the week.
