Following Friday's rain and snow, things will dry out and warm up in a big way this weekend. Saturday will feature highs in the mid to upper 40s under a partly cloudy sky. A strong SW breeze gusting near 30 mph will aid in that temperature boost. We will see a similar pattern Sunday, but highs will surpass the 50° mark for only the 8th time this year.

The milder pattern continues into next week with a ridge developing across the Central part of the country. This will keep the main forcing of the jet stream to our North, funneling weather systems that direction. Locally, we will remain quiet and mild for much of the week ahead. Our next chances for any precipitation won't arrive until Wednesday at the earliest.

I mention the mild stretch, but just how mild will it get? Temperatures will remain above the average mark of the low 40s through the entire week, with a few days even pushing the 60° mark! We may have to watch a backdoor cold front Tuesday that could limit the high temperature, but we will likely still reach the 50s that day. We will remain above average throughout the entire week, though and some days by a margin of 15° or more.

The milder stretch looks to continue into mid-March with the outlook from the Climate Prediction Center heavily favoring above average temperatures between the 13th-17th of March. Above average precipitation is also favored in this window, so we may see more frequent periods of rain and even some storms toward the middle of the month. Stay tuned!
