Scattered rain showers possible tonight, widespread rain Sunday

It has been a warm but windy day across the Stateline with high temperatures reaching into the upper 50s and near 60° for some. The wind has led into our next weather system bringing us the potential for some showers into the evening. Radar has begun to light up with light rain showers as of 6PM, but much of that is not reaching the ground quite yet. We will have some drier air near the surface as dew points remain in the 20s/30s.

Scattered showers start working through that drier air between 7-8PM, allowing for light sprinkles or rain to reach the surface. A rumble or two of thunder could be possible within some of the stronger showers to the West in Iowa, but the severe threat will remain low.

Any showers we see will be winding down and moving out of the region near or just after 12AM. Drier air will also clear out some of the cloud cover, allowing overnight lows to dip into the upper 20s by early Saturday morning. Total rainfall may only reach up to a tenth of an inch for most.

The clear sky will lead to more sunshine for Saturday, bringing temperatures into the mid-40s for afternoon highs. Winds will be lighter, out of the NNW early in the day, then South later in the evening. Cloud cover will begin filtering back in by late afternoon ahead of our next weather system.

That next weather system will bring the chance for more widespread rain showers starting late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. We could see showers continue into the afternoon on Sunday as temperatures rebound to the 50s. Total rainfall may reach near a quarter inch between Sunday morning and afternoon.
