Chilly Sunday, chance for snow showers early

It was a hazy morning due to lots of dust and smoke from the plains getting picked up by the dynamic weather system that brought the storms and strong winds Friday. The system's cold front worked to clear out that dust and haze by the afternoon but also brought temperatures down into the 40s and 30s Saturday evening. This strong push of cold air paired with the remnants of the weather system to our South and East will produce a few snow showers overnight into Sunday morning. I expect snow to begin after midnight and remain highest in coverage East of I-39.

We could see a few bands of steady snow showers between 6-9AM Sunday, particularly for the Eastern parts of the viewing area. Snow will begin to exit by mid-morning, with sunshine returning for the afternoon and evening. All told, we could see about an inch, maybe two, of slushy snow accumulations. This should remain limited to grassy and elevated surfaces with limited impacts to roadways and sidewalks. Just in case, keep an eye out for slick spots through tomorrow morning anyways!

Despite that afternoon sunshine mentioned above, temperatures will only rebound into the low 40s for our afternoon high. This will be paired with a stout NW wind gusting near 25 mph to add onto that chill factor. It's certainly a big change from the 80-degree high Friday afternoon!

Temperatures rebound quickly into next week, reaching back into the 50s Monday and 60s Tuesday. We will remain breezy throughout this time with generally Southerly winds gusting near 20-30 mph. Another weather system will move through the area mid-week, bringing a chance for rain and snow again on the back-end Wednesday into Thursday.
