You may have noticed towards sunset that there were a lot of clouds rolling in from the west. That is all associated with the area of low pressure that is going to bring a rainy and windy end to the weekend.
The first batch of showers arrives around sunrise, bringing brief periods of steady rain and gusty winds. Forecast models then show a second and heavier round of rain pressing through late Sunday morning into the afternoon. So, more than likely will need the rain gear with you if you are heading to church, breakfast, or if you have errands to run.
In addition to the rainy weather, a southwest wind kicks up, gusting up to 30-35 mph. This may add a little chill to the damp conditions.Look for high temperatures in the upper 40s, with wind chill values sitting in the upper 30s. Rain will taper off this evening, leaving behind totals near or above a quarter of an inch.
Winds become the bigger story tonight. The National Weather Service has placed all of northern Illinois under a WIND ADVISORY. For Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, and McHenry Counties, this will run from 4PM Sunday to 12AM Monday. For Carroll, Whiteside, Jo-Daviess, and Stephenson Counties, this will run from 2PM-10PM Sunday. Winds will swap to be out of the northwest behind the system's cold front, gusting up to 50 mph. Difficult travel is likely for some as well as a few power outages.
Windy conditions stick around for Monday, though not as strong as peak winds will fall in the 30-40 mph range. As the storm system departs, skies will turn partly cloudy by Monday afternoon with temperatures peaking once again in the upper 40s. Expect afternoon highs to gradually increase as next week progresses, landing highs in the low 60s by Friday.
