Warmer and breezy conditions continue this week

With yesterday exceeding forecasted temperatures getting up to 50 degrees much of the same looks to continue as we head into the week. Continued sunshine and warmer air favored from our upper-level jet stream will keep us in the 50s throughout the week with a few 60-degree days sprinkled in there!

Today might be our first shot at 60 degrees as well as right now forecasted temperatures look to get well into the upper 50s and depending on how strong our sunshine is today, we may see the 60-degree mark be hit today! As we go through today and the rest of the week, breezy conditions will be accompanied by sunshine due to a process known as "mixing" which is caused by the sun heating the surface of the earth.
Mixing often peaks in the afternoon or around 3-4 p.m. as that's the time of day when the most sunshine has impacted the earth throughout the day, also known as peak heating. Due to this, today as well as the days to come will consist of breezy afternoons with wind gusts approaching 25-30 mph daily.
Taking a look at the 7-day forecast this is certainly the warmest 7 day we've seen all year and is unseasonably warm for this time in March! It will be a great week to be outdoors as precipitation chances don't look to arrive till at least Thursday with Friday containing higher chances.
With the system coming in on Friday we not only look for the chances of rain but our first thunderstorms of the year as well. This system will continued to be monitored over the next week as some ingredients have come together for not only the chance for thunderstorms but also strong to severe thunderstorms, mainly to our southwest. This area highlighted does not guarantee severe thunderstorms and is expected to shift over the next week but as we move throughout the week stay in tune with the forecast and updates on this system!
