Pleasant, warm, and dry stretch continues

Temperatures fell just shy of reaching 60° in Rockford Sunday afternoon, reaching a high of 59°. Tomorrow will surpass that 60-degree mark in a big way, with highs reaching nearly 10° higher than Sunday afternoon. Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s for most, with a few spots even possibly making a run at 70°. Expect continued sunshine and a moderate southwesterly breeze gusting near 30 mph.

A cold front will knock temperatures down a bit for Tuesday, with highs only making it back to the low 50s. But that is still above average for this time of year (low/mid 40s). We will remain dry despite the passing cold front.

After the cool down from Tuesday morning's front, we will rebound again to the mid/upper 50s Wednesday and then well into the 60s Thursday. We will remain dry through at least Wednesday night before a slim chance of a few showers arrive Thursday.

Friday into Saturday, a strong storm system will arrive bringing strong winds and near-70 degree warmth Friday. This will also likely produce a widespread line of storms within the warm sector, which will encompass parts of the Stateline. While it is far too early for specific details on this system, there is a potential for strong to severe storms within the highlighted region below (Eastern Iowa down through Illinois and toward Arkansas and Mississippi). Our local timing would likely be Friday evening into Friday night. The loss of daytime heating by the time storms arrive here may limit the strength of them. That said, be sure to stay tuned to the forecast later this week for updates!
