Northern Illinois to start the work week with near-record warmth

This past weekend sure was nice wasn't it? Especially Sunday where sun-filled skies left the Stateline with its warmest day of the year thus far.

But I've got another question for ya... Who's ready for 60° maybe even 70° weather?

It's on the table today!

After a quiet night, winds are expected to change and increase out of the southwest. From 12PM-5PM, We may see some gusts between 25-30 mph. This along with lots of sunshine will help our temperatures surge into uncharted territory in terms of 2025, landing highs in the upper 60s, close to the 70 mark°

One thing to note, today's warm and dry wind and low humidity will allow fire danger to be elevated this afternoon. Avoid or delay any plans to burn. On the other hand, today's warmth will put us extremely close to our record high of 70° dating back to 1955. Do I see us tying this record? I'm not going to throw that possibility off the table. Needless to say, Monday is going to be fantastic and a great day to be outside! So make sure to put some outdoor time in your schedule Temperatures remain mild overnight, dipping down into the low 40s under a few passing clouds.

Forecast models then bring our next cold front in around sunrise Tuesday morning. With it will be no chance for precipitation, though it will switch our surface winds to the northeast. This will bring a halt our warm up, dropping afternoon highs to near the 50° mark under partly cloudy skies.
