As we come to a close on last week where multiple days were above average in terms of temperatures, we begin to look at the weekend where we cool down a little bit. Yesterday alone got up to 58° in Rockford which came just short of the record high of 62°! As we go into the weekend though, cooler northwest flow along with high pressure at the surface will keep us cooler but calm as well.

With high pressure moving in, winds will begin to lighten up throughout the day, but the morning still will remain breezy. As dry air moves in through the morning skies will being to clear as well offering mostly sunny skies for the rest of the day! This will last into tonight as well where clearer skies will allow our temperatures to drop into the low teens overnight.

Clear skies will continue into tomorrow along with calmer conditions. The high-pressure system will be directly overhead tomorrow providing even calmer conditions while a bit more sunshine may push us near 40° tomorrow. As we move into the night though a shift in the jet stream will allow higher moisture and upper-level winds to move into the area creating cloud cover as well as increasing precipitation chances as we move into Monday morning.
