After a dry Saturday, Easter Sunday will bring us broader chances for rain showers and eventually storms late in the evening. With the rain on the way, temperatures will hold fairly steady in the upper 40s or low 50s throughout the day.

We will remain dry through about 9-10AM when the first wing of showers lifts through the Stateline from the South. Light rain with a few pockets of steady rain may be possible then from 10AM into the early afternoon.

A slot of drier air will work through for the mid to late afternoon, preventing the widespread rain. This window may not be completely dry, as a few scattered showers may remain possible. Temperatures will remain in the low 50s for the most part (warmer South of I-88).

The surface low pressure will slide closer to the area later in the evening. This will bring a line of showers and storms our way after 9PM. These storms will be possible of producing severe weather across portions of Missouri and Southern Iowa earlier in the day. But the line will be in a weakening state as the storms move toward us after sunset. Nonetheless, a couple stronger storms are possible for us between 8PM-12AM.

As of the latest severe weather outlook, the Stateline is outside of even the lower-end severe risk for Sunday evening, but a strong storm or two may be able to sustain themselves a bit as they move closer to the area after 8-9PM. Keep checking in through the day tomorrow to see how the storms evolve and for updated chances for severe weather in Northern Illinois.
