The first of several weak disturbances is progressing across our neighboring state to the west. With it is a batch of scattered showers and thunderstorms, all non-severe at the moment.
While most of this activity has weakened before even reaching the Mississippi River, a portion of it may remain organized enough for us to see an isolated shower or storm this morning.
With a warm front parked over N. Illinois and S. Wisconsin, a few more hit or miss thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon into Wednesday. Some could be stronger than others, capable of producing sporadic large hail and damaging winds. For that, the Storm Prediction Center has left the entire region under a level 1 of 5 Marginal Risk. There is also a slim rain chance for Wednesday, though I do think the highest chance will reside to our north. On the plus side, today features a nice break from the gusty winds that kicked off the work week. In fact, the Stateline will see a multi-day stretch with peak wind gusts under the 20 mph mark.
Winds will be out of the southeast each of the next three days, allowing our afternoon highs to climb well above late-April standards. Temperatures today will end up close to the 70° mark, then climb into the low to mid 70s Wednesday and Thursday.
Friday features the more-organized storm system of the bunch which will result in our best chance for showers and storms this week. High pressure slides in for the weekend, leaving us partly cloudy, though we will end up cooler in the 60s.
