A lake breeze has also developed, pushing as far inland as Walworth County in Wisconsin and Boone County in Illinois. This breeze will continue to move west, cooling temperatures as it does through sunset. Winds have also picked up from the east around 15mph.
Gusts through the evening could reach 20-25 mph. Temperatures will drop into the low 50s tonight, but only warm into the low 60s Friday afternoon.
Low pressure will be near Davenport by sunrise Friday, slipping just south of the state line during the afternoon. This will limit just how far north the low's warm front will reach, keeping us with a northerly wind through much of the day. The highest chance for rain will occur during the first half of the day Friday, decreasing as the low pulls further away Friday afternoon and evening. North winds will increase during that time gusting around 20 mph. Drier air moving in behind the low will allow the rain to come to an end Friday night, but we will hang on to the cloud cover. A brief dip in temperatures will allow overnight lows to fall into the upper 30s Friday night. Rainfall totals will remain, for most, under a quarter of an inch.
