Wind, wind, and more wind. That has been the main headline this Spring season for many across the Midwest. Today's weather has been no different, with strong northwest winds throughout most of the afternoon. At times, wind gusts have reached 40-45 mph and show no signs of easing up through the evening.
Rest of the evening:
Skies will maintain their partly cloudy look through sunset as temperatures hold steady in the upper 50s and low 60s. A second cold front, currently located over the Upper Midwest and Northern Plains, will move in later tonight. As it does, clouds will increase with a few widely scattered rain showers developing after 9pm/10pm. We're already beginning to see the leading edge of the cloud cover moving in from the northwest.
Overnight:
Skies will remain mostly cloudy as northwest winds continue to gust around 35 mph. It's possible that there could be a brief window where wind gusts approach 40-45 mph, which may bring down some smaller tree branches. Spotty showers will continue through the night, but rainfall totals are likely to remain under a tenth of an inch. A couple snow flurries can't be completely ruled out, especially over southern and southeast Wisconsin a few hours before sunrise Tuesday.
Tuesday:
The day will begin under mostly cloudy skies, but as drier air moves in from the northwest skies will turn partly cloudy. Northwest winds will remain gusty, however, throughout most of the afternoon with gusts still approaching 35 mph. High temperatures will rise into the low 50s. Winds will calm through the evening Tuesday as high-pressure approaches from the west. This will allow areas of frost to develop early Wednesday as temperatures fall into the upper 20s and low 30s.
