We've already seen a few rounds of severe thunderstorms today, producing severe hail across Southern Wisconsin. The next round may slide through along a cold front later this evening. The showers have begun to develop along that front positioned just East of the Mississippi river as of 5:50PM.

Ahead of that front, we still have quite a bit of atmospheric energy, or instability, for these storms to work with. There has been a little bit of a cap limiting the coverage of these storms in the immediate term, but the cold front should allow for at least a few storms to break through the eroding cap.

The line of showers and storms may begin to develop along the I-39 corridor near 6-7PM. Futurecast not sold on the strong storm potential, but this would be the window for any storms to develop along that front. Our main concerns with any storms would be strong winds and large hail (not quite to baseball sized like this morning).

The Storm Prediction Center trimmed the severe risk back a bit from yesterday's outlook, placing Southern portions of the viewing area near and South of I-88 under a Level 2/5 Slight risk, while the rest of the Stateline is now under a Level 1/5 Marginal risk. If we were to see any severe storms develop, they would be in a very isolated form. Keep weather aware just in case anyways!
