Isolated storms likely Tuesday evening

6:50pm Update: There's been a gradual weakening trend in the lightning with the storms in Ogle County over the last 20 minutes. Biggest threats right now remain heavy downpours, mainly between Rochelle and Oregon.

6:30pm Update: Isolated thunderstorms continue to move through Ogle County producing frequent lightning, heavy rain, and even some hail. These storms are moving to the east around 30 mph. Biggest threats in the short-term will be the very heavy rain and lightning, but the storm could re-intensify, producing penny sized hail as it near I-39.

The rain Tuesday morning didn't amount to much with most receiving under a tenth of an inch. It last through most of the morning but came to an end around Noon as a push of warm air moved into southern Wisconsin. This allowed afternoon temperatures to reach the low 70s.

Showers and thunderstorms have redeveloped this evening, mostly across central Illinois, but a few isolated storms will be possible through sunset south of Rockford. While coverage is not anticipated to be high, some of the stronger storms could have some gusty winds and hail with them. This is why most of northern Illinois remains under a 'marginal risk' for isolated severe storms this evening.

An isolated storm has developed in Whiteside County, with some lightning showing up just to the southwest of Polo in Ogle County. Most of what develops this evening should be done by Midnight, with a redevelopment of showers and storms possible after Midnight. Coverage with the storms won't be widespread or for everyone, with some locations remaining dry during this time. Temperatures will fall into the low 50s tonight, warming back into the 70s Wednesday afternoon.
