After a comfortable and quiet Saturday, we now shift our focus to today, which is Easter Sunday! We won't be as fortunate today as multiple rounds of showers and possible thunderstorms is likely to move through the area throughout the day. Along with that, with a low-pressure system passing by we'll be pretty windy as well, so make sure to bring an umbrella and extra jacket to your Easter festivities!
Temperatures through the day today will go through a weird pattern as with a low-pressure system nearby, the placement of the systems warm front to our south with allow for temperatures to fluctuate through the day. We'll remain in the low 50's through the day which won't make temperatures feel too different, but the thing to note on this planner is the multiple chances we have for rain through the day.First, starting with wind speeds we'll see a consistent stiff wind from the west today as we'll be placed right north of the warm front keeping temperatures a bit cooler. Along with that the combination of low pressure causing stronger winds along with strong low-level winds in the atmosphere will keep wind speeds near 20 mph today with gusts peaking from 30-35 mph.Tracking some of the showers out, our first round will arrive with the lead wave of the system anywhere from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. late this morning. These showers will be lighter, however have they do have the chance to be widespread, so if you do have some early afternoon plans outside you may need to adjust them.Following those showers will be the next round which will be a bit more scattered. Showers through the afternoon and into the early right now have the lowest confidence in forming however if the second round were to happen expect showers to form around 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. this afternoon. If showers were to form this afternoon these could carry a bit more rainfall with them with stronger downpours possible.Into the evening is when we expect our highest chance for rainfall along with the possibilities of thunderstorms. Elevated instability is expected to develop into the night which will allow for some thunderstorm to develop. These thunderstorms will form in Missouri however will arrive here by 9 p.m. tonight. Any thunderstorm that does form tonight will most likely carry the capability of thunder and lightning along with heavy downpours, if a stronger storm were to develop small hail would be possible as well.Into the week, we'll see a few more rain chances scattered through the days. However, the good news is that the jet stream is expected to flatten out and weaken which will allow for average and slightly above average temperatures to stick around through next weekend.
