Northern Illinois to see another round of gusty winds

Similar to Sunday, strong winds will be top of the headlines to begin the work week. Still between 30-40 mph, though winds this time around will be out of the west and northwest. This will keep us cooler, leaving afternoon highs near the 60° mark.

After a partly sunny afternoon, clouds will gather up into the overnight hours as a secondary cold front swings in from the northwest. With it will come a slim chance for a stray shower or two. Any chance for rain will wrap up before sunrise, leaving conditions to dry out into the midday hours Tuesday. With a northwest breeze still in place, expect afternoon highs to wind up in the low 50s.

Wednesday will also be dry, though expect the chance for rain to increase late Thursday and Friday. With it will come the potential for severe weather. In their latest round of severe outlooks, the Storm Prediction Center placed a majority of our neighboring state to the west under a 15% risk (equivalent to a level 2 Slight Risk for severe weather.
Severe potential then pushes east by Friday as the storm system's cold front pushes in. Friday's severe outlook also includes a 15% risk, which does include areas south of Savanna, Freeport, Janesville, and the Milwaukee metro. Make sure to check the forecast frequently over the next few days as changes to the forecast will occur. Temperatures by week's end will end up close to the 70° mark, then drop into the upper 50s for Easter Weekend.
