Warmth, storm chances to persist into midweek

Thunderstorms are ongoing to our south this morning as a frontal boundary sits nearby. Overall, the severe threat with these thunderstorms is rather low, though sporadic large hail and gusty winds is possible with the strongest updrafts.

These should lift northward as the frontal boundary itself lifts northward towards the Illinois/Wisconsin border, keeping a chance for isolated storms into the mid to late morning hours.

Temperatures are another big story this morning as most Stateline locales are starting their day in the low 50s. Compared to temperatures Tuesday morning, this runs 10° to as much as 20° warmer. The combination of this morning's warmer base, today's light southerly breeze, and partial sunshine will help temperatures climb back into the 70s for a 2nd straight day. An isolated late-day shower or storm is possible before conditions settle down this evening.

With the warm front well to our north, surface flow will remain out of the east-southeast Thursday. This should result in a very similar warmup to today, bringing temperatures from the low 50s to the mid to upper 70s by the afternoon. This all happening under mainly dry and partly cloudy conditions.
