Beryl's remnants to bring northern Illinois some rainfall into Wednesday

Northern Illinois will soon say hello to the remnants of what was hurricane Beryl. As of this morning, the remnants are currently bringing heavy rain to areas in Arkansas, Missouri, and southern Illinois.

It's not until this evening where the northern extent of the precipitation shield pushes north of I-80. Ahead of this wave, the weather stays mainly dry with the exception of a few isolated afternoon showers. Highs remain seasonable in the low 80s.

Forecast models then bring Beryl's center through S. Illinois this evening, then into C. Indiana by the time tomorrow's AM commute gets underway.

This will bring the likelihood for showers and storms overnight, especially for areas south and east of Freeport and Savanna. Despite the influx of tropical moisture, we thankfully won't see anything in the way of severe weather or flash flooding.

Highest accumulations look to stay south and east of I-80 where 1" to as much as 4" of rain could fall. As the remnants push east, a few isolated showers and storms will be possible into Wednesday afternoon as a second upper-level impulse slides in.

Chances remain isolated Thursday and Friday as a trough remains in control of the upper-levels. It's also during this time that a heat dome to the west spreads eastward, allowing some of the hot air underneath it to spill into the Midwest. High temperatures will go from the low 80s Thursday to the upper 80s Friday and Saturday, to the low 90s Sunday.
