Thursday afternoon weather update

Skies have started to clear from the morning cloud cover and scattered rain showers, allowing temperatures to warm into the upper 70s and low 80s this afternoon. With a little more anticipated sunshine through the afternoon, temperatures should warm through the low to mid 80s.

Widely isolated showers and thunderstorms have started to develop, especially over southern Wisconsin and far northern Illinois, along the northern fringe of an upper-level low. These isolated storms are not expected to become severe, but a few of the stronger cores will be capable of producing gusty winds. Heavy downpours will also be likely with any of the showers and storms through the afternoon.

As the low moves further east this evening skies will clear, leaving mostly clear skies through the night. Temperatures falling back through the low 60s could lead to some patchy fog through Friday morning.
