Wednesday evening weather update

Temperatures Wednesday afternoon have been very comfortable compared to the last several days. Highs across the region warmed into the upper 70s, to near 80 degrees. Rockford's high reached 80, which is four degrees below normal. This cooler trend is set to continue as high pressure remains across the Midwest and Great Lakes.

For the remainder of Wednesday night, skies will slowly clear with temperatures falling into the mid-50s. Sunshine will greet us for the start of Thursday with a few clouds moving in during the afternoon.

A slightly cooler air mass will move overhead Thursday, and this will likely leave most in the upper 70s for the afternoon. With high pressure settling in Thursday night overnight lows will dip back into the mid-50s before warming into the low 80s Friday.

Moisture remains limited across the Midwest and Great Lakes and with high pressure in control, the chance for rain doesn't return until late into the weekend. Temperatures will slowly begin to trend back near average by early next week, with highs reaching the low to mid 80s.
