Patchy fog has been in and around the state line the past few mornings however today fog potential has been it's highest.
Currently dense fog is plaguing much of the state line as the morning starts, with the National Weather Service in both Chicago and Quad cities issuing special weather statements for dense fog through the morning.Currently visibility is down over much of the state line with some areas experiencing below 1 mile of visibility. So, as you head out through the morning be on the lookout for little to no visibility in some areas, especially low-lying areas.
As we move through the rest of today though, fog will not be the only inclement weather as shower and thunders may develop later through today.
Currently isolated thunderstorms are set to develop over the state line today as sunshine will help build some instability through the day. Showers will be very isolated though as not much forcing for storms is in place so areas of stronger instability will have higher chances for storms. This threat continues into tomorrow where chances are a little higher due to a low-pressure system helping lift air and help develops thunderstorms through the afternoon. For today the highest threats for showers and thunderstorms exist in the afternoon around 4-5 p.m. but thunderstorms may persist through the evening. As we approach the 7 p.m. hour showers and thunderstorms begin to become a lot more isolated as the sun lowers giving us a clearer night. But the thunderstorm threat quickly comes back Tuesday afternoon as a low-pressure system to the north helps fire off a round of showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon tomorrow. With any of the thunderstorms coming through these will not be reaching severe potential but some quick heavy downpours and cloud to ground lightning may be occurring with these storms.
Temperatures will remain cool through these days and for most of the week but keep an eye out on these thunderstorm chances if you have outdoor activities through the early week.
