Severe thunderstorm threats through the weekend

With high heat and humidity coming to the region severe thunderstorm chances begin to rise. The ridging pattern currently in place is allowing enhanced upper-level winds and heavy humidity to increase in the region through Monday allowing for strong to severe thunderstorms.

Starting with this evening, a line of thunderstorms is expected to move through the region in the late evening to early morning hours. The Storm Prediction Center currently has most of the region under a 2/5 slight risk with the primary risks being damaging winds however some hail cannot be ruled out with the line of thunderstorms.
Currently the line of strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to impact the region in the early morning hours anywhere from 12-2 a.m. tomorrow morning. With these thunderstorms coming through the late night and early morning hours, keeping electronic device and radios on through the night will be crucial so you can receive watches and warnings through the night.

The severe thunderstorm threat continues into Sunday evening as well. After the early morning round Sunday afternoon will be clear however 90-degree heat and humidity will return. With the heat and humidity bringing some of the "juice" for thunderstorms depending on how the atmosphere recovers through the day isolated severe thunderstorms may be possible. With a forecasted "cap" or a lid preventing thunderstorms on Sunday development so far is questionable however, if thunderstorms do develop damaging winds, hail, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out through Sunday night.

Even into Monday severe thunderstorm chances stick around and are actually even higher into Monday. Currently the Storm Prediction Center has the entire state line under a slight 2/5 risk for severe thunderstorms. Timing and impacts will be known better as we get closer however Monday does look to have the highest chances of severe thunderstorms through this stretch.

With heat and thunderstorms make sure to practice safety by staying cool as well as making sure to have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings through the weekend.
