River levels climb across northern Illinois due to recent rainfall

With how much heavy rain northern Illinois endured since Saturday afternoon, expect river levels to slowly rise over the next few days.

Flood warnings remain in place for multiple spots along the Rock including Como, Byron, Latham Park, and Rockton. The Pecatonica in Freeport and Shirland as well as the Kishwaukee near Perryville are also under a flood warning.

Observations conducted this morning show both spots along the Pecatonica are in "Action" flood stage while the Rock River in Byron and Latham Park are in "Minor" flood stage.

The worst is being reported along the portion of the Rock that flows through Rockton as "moderate" flooding was observed. Thankfully, water levels will crest either today or tomorrow.

The Pecatonica will take a bit longer to peak, cresting on Saturday. With that being said,  those who live in the flood warned areas should pay attention to the forecast and be ready take action to protect life and property.
