How high pressure in the West will impact late July

After experiencing a rough stretch of weather this past weekend, a calm and cooler pattern is forecasted. Temperatures remaining around average in the upper 70's to low 80's will offer a great time to get outside these next couple days. As well as sunnier, less humid and dry stretch of days looks likely to start the week with thunderstorm and rain chances increasing toward the middle of next week.

As for the rest of July, high pressure continues to build off to the west keeping drier and hotter temperatures to the west.

As July begins to end high pressure continues to build leaving much hotter temperatures to west in the Rocky Mountains while cooler than average temperatures dominate the Mid-South. In the Midwest this will leave us in average temperatures mainly staying in the low to mid 80's through the rest of the month.
In terms of precipitation, we will enter an average to slightly above average precipitation totals as July comes to a close. This is due to what is known as a blocking pattern, with the position of high pressure to the west the upper-level jet stream is "blocked" or pushed off to the north leaving us with weak to no upper-level winds thus leaving precipitation in an average pattern. This will greatly help as a break from precipitation will allow rivers to drop and decrease flood potential with any rain that may come. However, the rest of July should be a gorgeous stretch of weather for most of the Midwest!
