Thursday afternoon weather update

It has been an absolutely beautiful mid-July afternoon with temperatures warming into the low to mid 70s, nearly 10 degrees below the average high of 84 this time of year.

Skies will remain partly cloudy through the evening before clearing into the night. With high pressure settling in, areas of fog will be possible as temperatures fall into the mid 50s. Winds will turn to the southwest Friday with temperatures warming back near 80.

High pressure will hold strong across the Midwest through the weekend leading to mostly dry conditions, and temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s. By late weekend and early next week an upper-level low will slowly meander through the Midwest and Mississippi Valley, brining daily chances for rain and thunderstorms.
