Quiet weather settles in following Monday's storms

For the third time in as many days, the Rockford area found itself dealing with the likelihood for strong to severe storms and flash flooding.

As expected, a majority of the storm reports across the Stateline were wind, though a few funnel cloud reports came in as well. The National Weather Service is going to be out the next few days conducting surveys and as soon as information is released, we'll get it to you.

Now, it brings me great joy to say severe weather and the potential for flash flooding are NOT in the forecast moving forward.

We do kick off our Tuesday with some lingering cloud cover. However, the expectation is for clouds to clear some by the afternoon, leaving us with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Winds will turn to the northwest, limiting highs to the low 80s.

An area of Canadian high pressure then slowly settles in for the remainder of the work week. Temperatures will land on either side of the 80° mark Wednesday, then to the upper 70s by Thursday.

Friday and Saturday also remain dry with highs landing in the low 80s. There may be a small chance for a few showers sometime Sunday as a cold front dives into the Great Lakes. Other than that, we aim to stay dry into the beginning of next week.
