Air quality update: Levels across northern Illinois worsens overnight

The air quality index (AQI) dropped below 100 overnight, meaning the air quality is now "unhealthy for some". Those with heart and lung conditions, older adults, and small children will need to monitor levels and may want to refrain from spending long periods of time outdoors.

On the plus side, winds will be out of the south and southeast today. This will help push out what's left of the wildfire smoke, allowing air quality levels to slowly improve as the day progresses.
