Locally dense fog possible early Wednesday morning

Torrential rainfall the last few days has led to plenty of low-level moisture sticking around, even with a cold front passing through late Monday night. While the front may have given us a break from the rain and severe storms, it still left behind a somewhat humid air mass with dew points in the mid and upper 60s, and low 70s.

High pressure passing to the north will allow the breeze we've had this afternoon to subside overnight. Skies won't completely clear due to a weak upper-level disturbance sinking south into Wisconsin and Illinois. This will provide just enough lift to ignite an isolated sprinkle or shower through the night and into early Wednesday morning.

But where the clouds clear through the night fog will likely take its place, and some of that fog could be dense around sunrise - especially in the open and rural locations. Remain alert for changing visibility during the morning drive. The fog should lift mid-morning leading to partly cloudy skies during the rest of the afternoon. An afternoon shower or two can't be completely ruled out to the west as low level moisture is pushed towards the Mississippi River thanks to a breezy northeast wind.  Highs will warm close to 80 degrees during the afternoon.
