We have enjoyed a nice break from the humidity the last couple of days, but summertime heat will make a return this weekend. Dew points have been settled in the low 60s both Wednesday and Thursday, but will rise back near 70° or higher starting tomorrow.

This will be paired with rising temperatures, reaching the upper 80s and low 90s for the next several days. When you factor the rising temperature with the rising dew point, heat indices will make things feel even warmer. We will feel closer to 90-95° Friday and Monday, while Saturday and Sunday could feel close to or above 100°.

One thing we will need to watch is a frontal boundary this weekend. This front will be draped over the region, with scattered storms along it. Depending on the placement of the front, we could end up cooler than the forecast above would suggest. Storm outflows may also cause this boundary to slide further South, which would keep us a little cooler. Friday and Saturday look fairly set that the boundary should stay North, but Sunday and Monday are a little murky with storm potential and therefore the temperature forecast.

We will stay dry at least through Friday evening, but Friday night into Saturday morning will bring the first of a few rounds of scattered storms. Strongest storms within this area will be capable of gusty winds and heavy rain. Highest coverage will be centered mainly North and East of Rockford, but a few storms may work further Southwest than presently modeled below.

Most of the daytime hours Saturday will end up dry, but another round of spotty storms could develop Saturday night into Sunday along a similar track to Friday night's storms. This round could place down an outflow boundary, which would be a potential focal point for additional isolated or scattered storms on Sunday. Any of these storms may again be capable of gusty winds and heavy rain.
