Multiple rounds of thunderstorms ended up moving through the state line yesterday bringing heavy rainfall, hail, and severe wind gusts which did end up leading to damage in some spots across the state line. Luckily today we look to be drier, but flooding may still be possible in some spots through the morning.

The two main line of thunderstorms yesterday occurred right behind one another as the first round proved to be the most significant prompting numerous severe warnings for much of Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin while downing trees and even power poles. Not too long after around 6 p.m. another round of thunderstorms moved in bringing in heavy rainfall to the same regions.

Most storm reports ended up in two hot spots being Central Boone County as well as far Northern Stephenson County. Central Boone County, specifically Belvidere took the brunt of the strongest winds as multiple large trees were taken down along with power poles knocking out power for many. Near 60 mph wind gusts would be the cause of this while the storm also produced 1-inch hail at the time.

Those two rounds of thunderstorms along with another round that moved through in the early morning would end up bringing heavy rainfall for a few locations. Specifically, into McHenry and Northern Dekalb counites where nearly 3 inches of rainfall fell over the last 24 hours.
A few light showers are still sticking around the region this morning, but the heaviest rainfall looks to have moved to our southeast.

A few isolated showers and thunderstorms will still be possible through the morning which has kept flood watches in place for the western counties of the region. However, through the rest of the day drier conditions look possible but a few isolated showers will still be possible towards then evening.
