August's full moon to shine bright across northern Illinois skies tonight

Known as the Sturgeon Moon, August's full moon is scheduled to shine bright in our sky tonight into early Saturday.

August's full moon is called the sturgeon moon because sturgeon fish were traditionally caught more easily during this time.

Peak illumination is at 2:54AM CDT and it looks like the weather will pan out nicely during its journey from moonrise to moonset. Temperatures will be warm, starting in mid 80s around moonrise and then falling into low 70s by moonset.

Moonrise: 8:08PM CDT this evening

Moonset: 6:03AM CDT Saturday
