This climb in heat and humidity will carry on into the weekend as a strong ridge of high pressure settles over the Midwestern U.S. Afternoon highs for the 21st and possibly 22nd time this year will peak in the low 90s, with heat indices ending up close to the triple-digit mark. This hot and uncomfortably humid stretch is expected to linger into the start of next week as we await the passage of our next cold front. Forecast models don't show that occurring until late next Tuesday into Wednesday.
