We will finally see a reprieve from some of the heat and humidity as we had toward the weekend. The pattern in the jet stream will feed a bit of a cooler air mass our way behind Thursday's weather system, dropping temperatures into the low 70s or lower Saturday onward. By early next week, we will begin to see our next weather system taking shape. This will bring our next chance for some showers and storms starting Monday night.

There will be quite a bit more moisture with this system than the last, so soaking rainfall may be a possibility Monday night into Tuesday. How strong any storms will be will depend on the placement of the low-pressure system. Right now, this has trended a touch South, which may indicate a lower threat for strong storms locally.

Looking beyond the week ahead, there appears to be an extended period of cooler weather on tap, with the Climate Prediction Center indicating we may see below average temperatures for the last week or so of May. By that time, average highs are around the mid-70s.
