Following yesterday where we experienced slightly cooler than average conditions, we can begin to look at how the week is going to trend weather wise! Overall, it's looking to be one of the milder weeks we've had so far this year which may feel odd, since we're moving right into May which is often the start of thunderstorm season for us here in the Midwest!
Starting with today, we'll see slightly below average temperatures once again although still slightly warmer than yesterday. Throughout the day we'll be under slight influence from a stalled low-pressure system to our southwest sending clouds our way most of the day along with gusty winds at times. However, moving into tonight a bit more moisture from the low-pressure system will make its way into the state line which may offer a chance at a shower or two.
Through the day and into the nighttime hours, higher chances for showers will remain to our east however a few brief and light showers may still move in. Moisture will be the key limiting factor with these showers, so some may see some passing rain while others may not. As it looks right now though, the highest chances for some light showers will be in the morning tomorrow starting around 4 a.m. but will quickly clear out by 8 a.m.

Since these showers will be really light, with little accumulation expected our drought monitor won't look to improve all too much through the next few days! Luckily our rainfall on Friday may help some locations in terms of drought status but our pattern in the week to come looks to keep us dry! With a northward shifting jet stream often known as a ridge, this will keep upper-level winds and forcing away from us for the rest of the week! This will not only allow for dry conditions but calm and mild conditions as well as high pressure through the week will help keep temperatures comfortable. Even though we won't see much rain, it'll be a nice stretch of 4-5 days starting Tuesday of temperatures ranging from the 60's to mid 70's so get out and enjoy the calm weather before peak storm season arrives!
