Warmer trend returns this weekend with limited rain chances

Following a brief cool-down toward the end of this week, the weekend will feature a return to above average warmth. Both Saturday and Sunday will feature highs in the mid to upper 70s with fair amounts of sunshine. The only slim chance for rain will be along another lake-enhanced cold front Saturday. Those showers will remain very isolated, likely even less so than Wednesday's.

Aside from the showers Wednesday and then again Saturday, we continue to see a pattern that is not favorable for rainfall around the Stateline. We will be under the influence of repeated rounds of high pressure as temperatures remain above average throughout much of next week.

Another slim chance for spotty showers would arrive with a weak low-pressure system lifting through the region Monday into Tuesday. This will be a weaker upper low before it arrives, so rain coverage will be scattered at most. Cloud cover from those rain showers may limit afternoon highs a bit, but for now forecast highs are near 80° both Monday and Tuesday.

Our next widespread rain chance will arrive with a broader trough that will arrive toward the middle of the week. This larger scale system will bring a rise in gulf moisture Wednesday into Thursday, producing the chance for more widespread rain showers and possibly even a few storms. This time period will also be accompanied by continued warmth, with a higher chance of temperatures into the low 80s Wednesday and Thursday.
