It's been a dry weekend and overall, just a dry start to our spring so far. I'm sure a dust storm warning earlier this week for portions of Chicago characterized that well! Luckily though heading into the early portions of the week we'll see higher rain chances, but we'll see cooler temperatures with the rainfall.
As our next low-pressure system approaches this morning we'll see a few chances for some isolated showers. Showers through the morning and much of today will be light however as the best moisture with this system will stay to our south. Temperatures throughout the day will slowly climb and will still be relatively comfortable in the 60's today!

The main influence we'll see from the low-pressure system approaching this morning will be building cloud cover through the morning which may keep temperatures a bit cooler. Shower chances today will remain lower though as the previously mentioned lack of moisture will affect mainly the lower levels of our atmosphere allowing for cloud but not rain. Into the evening and afternoon though, a little bit of clearing and sunshine may be possible which would help our temperatures bump up a little bit!

Moisture will be funneled into the region though as we head into the early morning hours of tomorrow which will allow for widespread showers for most of the morning! Showers look to move in by 1 a.m. tonight and last until the early portions of tomorrow afternoon till around 2 p.m. We'll see consistent rainfall throughout the morning with even a couple instances of some heavier downpours. Along with heavier downpours, breezy conditions will be sticking around with some wind gusts up to 30 mph tomorrow.A dry period looks possible as we move into the early evening hours which may allow for an isolated thunderstorm to move through, but at this time those chances look higher to our south. We'll be just shy of warmer temperatures tomorrow as a warm front to our south will stall just far enough away where we miss out on upper 60's and even possible 70-degree temperatures. Areas near and south of the warm front will have a bit of instability available so some thunderstorms will be possible, if these warm front lifts a bit farther north we can see our chances of an isolated thunderstorm rise tomorrow.
Isolated showers will be sticking around for the rest of the evening tomorrow but with such widespread rainfall through the night tonight and into tomorrow we'll be seeing some heavy precipitation totals! Rainfall totals may approach 2 inches in some locations tomorrow, so be on the lookout for ponding on roadways. Otherwise, most people will be very excited for this rain as we've been so dry this entire spring!
