Warm stretch continuing this week with a few chances of showers and thunderstorms

Warm weather has been the story since the beginning of Friday where temperatures have stayed in the upper 70's for 3 days straight now! Luckily for those who had outdoor plan for Mother's Day weekend the weather couldn't have been better as with the warm, light winds and dry humidity kept conditions super comfortable!

Heading into today, we'll see pretty much the same story but even slightly warmer as we look to pass the 80-degree mark today! Expect another day with plenty of sunshine with a few clouds mixed in there especially later in the evening. We won't see much humidity today either, however into the night conditions may feel a bit muggier as temperatures drop while we build cloud cover overnight where we could also see a very isolated shower.
Over the next 3 days this pattern looks to continue as we may even see an 80-degree stretch play out. Conditions will stay dry and warm both Monday and Wednesday however with a disturbance to our south bringing in some moisture tonight and into tomorrow we could see a few showers possible on Tuesday.
As it looks now, shower and thunderstorm activity look to be very similar to what we're used to in the middle of summer with "popcorn" like showers/thunderstorms. These pop-up storms run solely on instability and sunshine as they don't often have many ingredients we often see for stronger and more organized storms so these will go up just about as quick as they fall apart. Rain showers will remain scattered tomorrow, but some locations may see a few quick downpours through the afternoon.

Even warmer weather is expected as we approach Thursday with Wednesday getting back up into the 80's followed by possible mid 80 to upper 80-degree heat! This will be ahead of our next low-pressure system moving in on Thursday which will also bring the chances for strong to severe thunderstorms with it. Right now, the environment forecast does support the possibility of severe storms, but the question right now is will there be storms that are able to take advantage of that environment? A strong atmospheric "cap" or lid is likely to keep thunderstorms a bit tame through the afternoon, but this could change, time will only tell as we get closer.
