Dry and warm to start, cooler temperatures into the evening today

Going through this weekend we'll get right back to very comfortable conditions with upper 70's and dry conditions sticking around as high pressure will continue to dominate the Midwest. The past few days have not been cool by any means but are not as warm as the 70-degree temperatures we had to start the week.

Today, 70-degree temperatures will return as upper 70's along with plenty of sunshine will stick around for much of the day. However breezy winds will stick around through the afternoon especially into the night when temperatures begin to cool as a lake breeze moves in.
Into the night, as the lake breezy approaches temperatures will drop quickly into the night. Behind this lake enhanced cold front or lake breeze, cool and breezy air from Lake Michigan will move onshore dropping us well into the 40's overnight.
Temperatures today across the state line will be in the mid to upper 70's with winds out of the north around 5-15 mph. This cold front will move off the lake early in the day with the suburbs of Chicago seeing temperatures drop to the 50's already in the afternoon!
We'll stay warm through the afternoon as this lake breeze will be moving very slow through the day. However, by 7 p.m. temperatures will drop, and a notable wind shift will occur which will be around the timing of this front. Conditions along this front will be cooler, however we should stay mostly with a few clouds possible along the front with a very slim chance of a shower along this front.
Dry conditions will last through the weekend and into the start of the week. However, our next best chances of precipitation won't arrive until early Tuesday with the best chances of rainfall looking to be around Thursday as our next strong low-pressure system moves through.
