Cooler week ahead with some chances of rain

After yet another day of warm temperatures it felt like summer all week instead of mid-May! As usual during spring though we see our fair share of thunderstorms as well as two consecutive days Winnebago County was hit by severe thunderstorms! Along with that, it was a very breezy day yesterday but that didn't stop us hitting the 80's!

For a week now, we've seen temperatures hit 80 degrees or more besides only one day where we hit 79! For those that like summer like weather it was a treat for you this week as for most of the days we stayed dry and calm besides the previous two days where thunderstorms and wind took our headlines! We look to get back into a cooler pattern though heading into next week.
Starting with today we'll be nearly 20 degrees cooler than just our high temperatures yesterday! After the cold front moves through last night temperatures took a while to drop but have dropped pretty significantly overnight. It'll especially feel cooler today as well as wind speeds will stay stronger today reaching 30-35 mph at times!

Heading into the beginning of next week much of the same will continue as our next low-pressure system moves in. This time this low will pass just to our south which will keep us north of the warm front with this system leaving us in cooler air. Although we'll be on the cooler side of this system plenty of moisture will be available for multiple chances for showers especially Tuesday as the center of the low tracks nearby.
These cooler temperatures are going to feel a little extra cold for us after we were just treated to such warm temperatures! Temperatures look to fall into the low 60's and possibly even in the 50's as our next system approaches but rain chances for at least Tuesday look to be higher! Towards the end of the week another low to our east will keep us cooler, but dry. Then as we head towards the weekend warmer temperatures out west look to slowly creep back into the Midwest!
