Thursday will be no different as sunshine will continue its dominance thanks to high pressure sitting over the Great Lakes. As I like to say with high pressure systems such as this, "big bubble, no trouble". Temperatures will once again peak in the upper 70s, which is a few degrees shy of the low 80s which is typical for late August.
Friday features more in the way of
clouds and a light warm breeze out of the southwest. This will bring afternoon highs up a degree or two, landing a few spots into the low 80s. Despite the temperature climb, humidity remains low. Overnight lows will end up in the mid 50s tonight, then low 60s Friday night.
As we've previously discussed, a more substantial wave of warm and humid air is expected to filter in over the weekend and into next week. With the eastward expansion of a heat dome into the Midwest and Great Lakes region, temperatures are expected to peak in the mid 80s Saturday, upper 80s Sunday, and then low 90s Monday. Forecast models do show our next cold front arriving sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon. The timing in which this cold front passes through will help determine just how long this hot and humid air sticks around.
