It's a beautiful sunrise Sunday morning as cloud cover slowly works to the east and southeast, rotating around an area of low-pressure situated across the eastern Great Lakes. Overnight temperatures remained mild, dropping only in the low to mid 60s.
Under partly cloudy skies Sunday afternoon temperatures will warm into the upper 70s and low 80s, with Rockford's high expected to reach 80 degrees. Winds will increase from the northwest, gusting around 25 mph.
A small boundary located over northeast Illinois during the afternoon, combined with a little moisture, may be just enough to allow an afternoon sprinkle or shower to develop. While most of this activity will remain just outside of the immediate viewing area, our eastern counties of McHenry and DeKalb may be close enough to experience some very light precipitation. Skies will remain mostly clear through tonight with temperatures falling into the mid-50s. Patchy, shallow ground fog will be possible through Monday morning.
High pressure building in from the northwest will begin to settle in across the Great Lakes, leaving skies mostly clear with afternoon highs reaching the mid to upper 70s the next few days. Overnight lows will fall into the 50s.
