On a more positive note, Monday was also the last day in which we had to deal with the high heat and humidity in the near future.
Why is that? Low pressure tracking across the I-80 corridor today will allow a noticeably cooler airmass to spill into the Great Lakes. High temperatures will go from unseasonably warm to unseasonably cool, with most landing in the low 70s this afternoon. Clouds will dominate for most, if not all of Tuesday, and a northeasterly breeze will also be a significant factor. Along with today's cloud cover will come the chance for a sprinkle or shower, especially during the first half of the day.
High pressure sliding in behind the departing system will help dry our skies further overnight. This will leave us mostly clear after the midnight hour, with lows landing on either side of the 60° mark.
From there, expect a sun-filled, less humid and pleasant Wednesday with highs peaking around 80°. Clouds will fill back in on Thursday as our next storm system glides into the Upper Midwest.
With it will be a weak and moisture-starved cold front which looks to slide through Thursday night. Ahead of this boundary, highs will peak right around 80°. Post-frontal passage, highs will drop back down into the 70s for Friday and for the upcoming weekend. All in all, perfect weather conditions if you plan to head over to Belvidere for the Boone County Fair.
