Temperatures will soon begin to climb back up above average with highs warming close to 90 degrees by the upcoming weekend and early next week. This warm-up is likely to last through the end of August and beginning of September, as longer-range outlooks are hinting at the warmer trend sticking around.
Rainfall through the month of August has been hard to come by with only 1.18 inches falling, which is 1.37 inches below average. For the next several days
high pressure will keep our skies precipitation free as moisture remains locked to the south. By the weekend, we begin to see moisture move back in, but with upper-level ridging building overhead the pattern change will only bring limited precipitation chances for the Stateline. This, too, is also a trend that may continue through the rest of the month and into September.Long range precipitation outlooks suggest a higher probability for below average precipitation. While we are slowly approaching the end of the heart of our growing season, we still need the rain. A prolonged period of warmth and little rain could slowly begin to bring us back to drought conditions.
