With Saturday's temperatures just missing 90 degrees, the next few days will easily clear that mark with some near record heat returning to the state line. With the heat thunderstorm and even severe thunderstorm chances begin to increase toward the beginning and middle of next week.
Even as we are a day before the 90-degree heat arrives all of the state line is under some type of heat watch, warning, or advisory. Through today we will get up to a high near 90 at 89 degrees but with upper 60's and low 70-degree dewpoints heat indices will still nearly approach triple digits.
As of now areas in pink are under an Excessive heat warning for Monday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the primary concern being heat indices approaching 108 degrees. Areas in maroon are under an Excessive heat watch for Monday and Tuesday, with the concerns being heat indices approaching 105 degrees Monday and 110-115 degrees on Tuesday although real temperatures will be in the mid 90's. Finally, areas in orange are under a heat advisory until Tuesday evening for 105-degree heat indices expected.
Zooming in to the state line temperatures these next few days will either flirt with 90 degrees or will pass it. With that dew point temperatures will be in the low 70's for most of these days so not only high humidity will come with the higher heat shooting heat indices well into the 100 degree and over range.During this stretch of hot and humid conditions, being outside for extended periods of time may be dangerous without proper precautions. If you find yourself outside this week, make sure to have plenty of hydration, wear light clothing, and minimizing exposure to the sun as the sun will be shining heavy this week and just staying outside for long periods of time even with shade may be dangerous at times. Not only will heavy heat and humidity be the main cause but so will severe thunderstorms. As of now the Storm Prediction Center has outlined a slight and marginal risk for all of the state line expecting severe thunderstorms through Tuesday night. Areas of focus may change with newer outlooks but as of now confidence is higher for thunderstorm development and possible serve thunderstorm development along a cold front Tuesday night.
As we move through this early portion of the week conditions will be dangerous for multiple reasons, make sure to take heat precautionary measures this week as well as have multiple ways to receive updates, watches and warnings through this stretch.
